Be Aware of New Fees Effective December 1st, 2005


All cases heard by the County Court At Law #1 and County Court At Law #2 originate with the County Clerk – Court Section.  The role of the Court Section is to accept the initial filing of cases, record all instruments filed in each case, make them available to the court as required, and to inform the parties of important actions in the case by issuing appropriate processes.  

The County Courts At Law have jurisdiction over the following types of cases:

       
    Criminal Division – Misdemeanors and Traffic Appeal
       
    Civil Division – Civil Cases, Family Law Cases, Juvenile Cases and Probate Cases

The following case types are available to public inspection under the Open Records Act:

    Misdemeanor cases Ext.  1326
    Civil cases  Ext.  1311
    Divorce cases Ext.  1332
    Other Family Law cases Ext.  1311
    Probate and Guardianship cases Ext.  1308
    Eminent Domain cases Ext.  1314
    Traffic Appeal cases Ext.  1326

Case types closed to public inspection include:

    Adoption cases

Family Code Sec. 162.022

    Juvenile cases

Family Code Sec. 58.007

    Mental & Substance Dependency Commitment cases

Health & Safety Code Sec. 571.015

    Cases sealed by court order

 

 Fees for copies:

       
    Certified - $5.00 plus $1.00 per page or part of a page per document.
       
    Non-certified - $1.00 per page or part of a page.
       
    Vital Record Preservation Fee for copy of Domestic (Family Law) Document   $1.00 per document

 Fees for record searches:    (Search Clerk -  Ext.  1316)

            $5.00 for each search on each name requested.  

The County Clerk is now accepting payments online for Court related services and fines and court costs.
